Dahx was awake and he had no idea what the emperor had decided for the arena today. As he headed for the arena his grandfather reminded him “believe in your sword and allow it to guide you to victory.” Dahx avoided anybody else and tried to clear his mind. He was curious who he would be challenging today and if he even stood a chance at winning. He was also scared that his opponent might not be as merciless as the emperor. Dahx arrived at the arena, suited up, and waited for the emperor to introduce them. “Today…….” “We have a challenger for the arena champion” ” The newcomer from a faraway village will challenge Tepica’s own Tarc!!!” And the person that Dahx had trained with on the boat stood before him. “The rules are going to be a bit different today.” “for the amusement of the crowd and the honor of the warriors this battle will be…… to DEATH!!!” After hearing that Dahx froze. He had no idea that this was a battle to the death. He wouldn’t only have to win but he would have to kill another human being as well. The battle began and Dahx couldn’t fight. And he refused  to kill another human being

Dahx was called to his third match. He was nervous, but still confident. Although he was going up against someone above his level and skill in the arena he would still fight his best because no matter what his ranking was good enough to let him retire for at least a year even though he would continue to fight. But he didnt come here for the money. Fame is what he wanted and he was ready to get it. When the battle began they took their time, pacing in circles, clashing swords, dodging. Then suddenly his opponent charged in he had no choice but to charge after. They clashed swords and pushed each other back they continued this for some time. Dahx was in another place, while he thought his body and instinct were in full control. He watched his opponent and he studied how he fought he saw how he swung and how he dodged. Then he realized his opponent was offensive because he was weak with blocking and countering. Dahx had found his weakness. He rolled past him with the sword just missing him.slashed his sword and then he saw it.  He saw the bright red liquid flowing from his arm. He was ready to fight the arena champion but that match would come tomorrow he had a day to rest and prepare before he met the arena champion. Dahx was relieved he had done it. When he returned to the inn Dahx was greeted with the celebrating  city folk. Dahx even though proud of his victory thanked them all kindly and went up stairs for rest. Dahx lay in bed hearing the party dieing down he felt tired but the thrill of his victory almost kept him up for the night but he fell into a long yet restless slumber……

A little short story part 4

Dahx passed out to a blurry image of a friend he once new for a short couple months. He woke abruptly to a fuzzy outline of his grandfather and a strange man. He looked over and the man was treating to his wound. “are you ok?” said the strange man “you fainted after your opponent slashed your hand.” “although you didn’t win one of the imperial guards delivered money to you for bravery.” So after Dahx had his wound treated they left had a meal and returned to the inn to rest. While Dahx sat in bed he wondered if he would see his friend from the boat again and why he slashed his arm so heartlessly. As these thoughts pondered in his mind he dozed off  into a deep sleep. Dahx headed to the arena first thing hoping to get some sparring lessons. As he arrived the guards where giving lessons and tips to fighting in the arena and he did as they said. They even practiced sparring but not cutting each other into pieces. At the end of the week Dahx had trained so much as well as learning little sword technique here and there that he was prepared for what he had ahead of him. This time their battles were placed in a tournament. Dahx won his first match almost effortlessly disarming him and forcing him into submission, because he didn’t wish to harm or wound him. His next match wan’t as easy he had witnessed other people fight he saw their mistakes and remembered before his fight started not to make the same ones they did. He had decided it was better to go on the defensive move and he blocked continuously looking for any possible opening to strike, and then he saw it but his reaction was too slow he was disarmed. In this situation he had seen others run away, others dropped to their knees, and the reckless ones continued to fight with their fists. He lunged for his opponent furiously dodging his blade looking for any hope of getting his blade. Then he gave up all thinking and lunged right for him ripping  the sword out of his hands leaving the other warrior defenseless leaving him in victory. He knew he got off lucky this time and that his next match wouldn’t be as easy…….

Dahx woke up very early and headed to the market with his grandfather. His grandfather seemed to be in a hurry but he payed it no mind and followed without question. They arrived at a strange place. There was a stone opening in a wall where a fire was lit. There was also a metal cauldron filled with water. “this is a blacksmith” explained his grandfather seeing the questioned look on his face. ” Armor is made here i had saved up day by day at the village hoping to buy you some when we came here”. Dahx thought this might be dangerous but at the lengths he had come to get here he was ready to risk it so he thanked his grandfather and they ordered the armor. When it came to paying for the armor his grandfather pulled out a pouch and took out some coins. As the blacksmith counted the coins he realized that there wasn’t enough. “your short you need more i’m sorry…”  shamed his grandfather turned to walk away when suddenly “i have some money” said Dahx. He handed them to the blacksmith and handed the armor to him. They headed to a cafe before going to the arena enjoyed some tea and biscuits. When they arrived at the arena Dahx got suited up in his armour and headed into the arena. As they listened to the emperor as he said “we shall begin the arena today with the gladiators fending off wild animals!” There was a screech as metal gates were lifted. Dahx heard a low pitched growling and then lions bolted out of the gate at the warriors. The warriors being confident charged right into battle slaying lion after lion until they were all dead.”congratulations to all the warriors now we may begin the events of warriors sparring for victory”. The warriors lined up and Dahx new to this realized what happened and ran into line after them. In pairs pair after pair warriors were called and they sparred until first blood was drawn. “Nico and Dahx please step forward for battle”. they stepped forward and instantly Dahx realized who he was fighting and completely lost it. He forgot everything he knew and was disarmed in seconds and his arm was slashed and he was left with defeat.

As Dahx awoke he gathered his things. He owned a hunting knife, a bow but not many arrows, and a small amount of money. He hurried over to his grandfathers and they  left within an hour after having breakfast. As they were leaving the house he saw his grandfather grab a shiny little locket. “Take this, it has been in our family for generations and will assist you when you need it most”.  So Dahx took they locket and placed it in his pocket. They arrived at the village dock and boarded the ship which soon set sail for faraway lands. His grandfather abruptly awoke him late in the night and told him that they should train while they had the time so they trained late into the morning. they drank some tea and had some bread and rice and went back to training. Dahx realized his grandfather was pushing him harder and harder each day until one day he snapped and asked his grandfather ” Why?, you’ve been pushing me harder every day and now im at the peak of exhaustion, so why are you forcing this training on me”? His grandfather flustered with what to say next said ” I’m doing this for your own good, for when we arrive in far lands I am worried that you will be overpowered or by the will of the emperor of that city killed” .  for my own good he thought. “So you think pushing me to this is going to help me at all”? In shear shock his grandfather replied ” Fine if this is what you want then you can fight for yourself now and i will only stay to observe and cheer you on”. And quicker then the fight began his grandfather was gone. for days Dahx trained on his own but he couldn’t do anything but hone the skills he already knew. After about a month he discovered that another passenger headed to the arena was a warrior so they shared their skills and practiced on each other. Finally his grandfather noticing how well he was doing decided to forgive them and return to train them. It was a hard decision but he knew he would be lost without his grandfather because after all he is the reason hes here. So after many days of brutal training they arrive in the gigantic city of Tempica. It was massive filled with markets. He saw pedlar’s and traders of all kinds he even saw some selling blades and armor which he could buy later after winning in the arena a couple times. Dahx was lucky because this emperor wasn’t cruel but kind and forgiving so he was more then likely bound to be spared if he lost and the rules here were more humane. The rules were the same in every way except you were to win by drawing first blood from your opponent. So Dahx and his grandfather left the boat and headed for their inn paid for by the arena wondering how tomorrows events would turn out. As he dazed off to sleep hewhondered if he would see his friend again……

Once upon a time in the little village of Penlian lived a young boy. He was an ordinary boy in most ways. He would hunt with his father, play with the other children of the village, but on occasion he would sneak over to his grandfathers and he would be taught swordsmanship. This was his true passion. His grandfather was even considering bringing him to distant lands to do battle with other great warriors. They were very strong and from a young age had slaughtered thousands. But back to the boy. He wasn’t very tall but he was of average height for his village, he had black hair was very pale and had blue eyes just like the ocean. The boy was extremely smart and strong. So smart and strong he basically planned and built the village to what it was today besides all the muscle power he had from the other villagers.  The boys name was Dahx. One morning Dahx awoke with a start as his mother and sister yelling at him and ordering him around, so naturally he got up got dressed and got to work. after his chores he played with some of  the children in the village. After some time he realized he wouldn’t have long to train with his grandfather if he didn’t go now so he said “i have to go see you guys tomorrow” and he dashed to his grandfathers with haste. He arrived in no time and realized he hadn’t needed to rush at all. But to his surprise his grandfather was fast asleep when he entered. So as not to bother him he found his  sword and began doing some exercises. His grandfather awoke when not to his surprise Dahx broke a pot swinging around the sword. “whats going on here”said his grandfather. ” I was practicing my sword skills without you so as not to disturb you” replied dihx with shame. “well all that aside” said his grand father. “I have planned us a trip to Rolim the great dueling city”. “We will leave tomorrow and i will train you night and day so when we get there you will be well prepared for what you will face”. “Now say your good-byes and gather your things and get a good nights rest we leave early in the morning”.
